Philipsburg (locally known as “P-burg” or “The Burg”) was founded in 1866 as a critical trading post and silver mining hub in Granite County, Montana. Unlike many small towns in Montana, which struggle to attract visitors, This town of 800 remains a must-see by harnessing its romantic western history including mining and cattle ranching. Our goal at every ElkView property is to celebrate this history through architecture, landscaping, décor, amenities and activities. Cabin rentals in Montana are plentiful, however, few can rival the solitude, views, wildlife abundance, luxury and convenience of ElkView Montana properties.
In addition to The Outpost @ ElkView, architectural plans are being drawn up for an historically-accurate U.S. Forest Service fire lookout tower intended for an adjacent hilltop. Additionally, three small rustic cottages will occupy the acreage far below. Each ElkView Montana property is roughly 20 acres, ensuring that you, your family and friends have plenty of space to relax.
After a day taking in the sights and driving the majestic Pintler Scenic Highway over the Continental Divide, it’s time to relax on the back porch of your cabin. There you’ll see moose, elk, white-tailed and mule deer, bighorn sheep, antelope, black bear, coyote, sandhill crane, golden eagles and more. Enjoy stargazing into skies unpolluted by city lights while you’re serenaded by howling coyotes or even wolves and the bugling of rutting elk.
Your adventure awaits and we are here to make it memorable. Let us know how we can help.
The town of Philipsburg offers a surprisingly wide range of amenities and activities. Treasure-seekers can mine for sapphires at Gem Mountain. Guests with a sweet-tooth, can satisfy their candy cravings at The Sweet Palace, a world famous confectionery. Discovery Basin Ski Hill towers above the town, offering winter cross-country, snowshoeing and downhill skiing as well as summer mountain biking and hiking. Anglers will find themselves at the epicenter of some of the best fishing in the world. Rock Creek, Georgetown Lake and the Clark Fork River are all within 30 minutes of town. Wet your whistle at the Philipsburg Brewery or The Springs and then enjoy a meal at one of the town’s many restaurants, such as Kiko’s Mexican Restaurant, Winning Ridge Taphouse, Bunkhouse Whiskey, Doe Brothers, The Sushi Shack, Friday Night Pizza or The Sunshine Station. Once you’ve had your fill, walk historical Broadway Street maintained as it was in the early 1900s. There you’ll find antique stores, art galleries and local artisan shops. Grab a coffee at Sherrie’s Bakery or ice cream from The Philipsburg Creamery and your day is rounding out nicely.
